What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ‘Ray-Kee’) translates to “spiritual energy”. It is a safe form of energy healing that helps to activate the body’s natural healing ability while balancing the body, mind, emotions and spirit.
How does it work?
In a Reiki session, a practitioner serves a channel for your body to draw in Reiki wherever it is needed most at that time. Reiki is a very high-vibe energy, so it is able to balance and clear any imbalances and blocks that are not aligned with your highest and greatest good. This allows Ki (aka life-force energy) to flow freely through your body, helping to stimulate your natural healing ability.
Reiki is guided by your Higher Self to help balance your whole self, which includes your body, thoughts, beliefs and emotions. Healing may need to occur on a mental or emotional level before occurring on a physical level. While miracles do occur, Reiki is not a cure-all and it’s not meant to take the place of conventional medicine. It’s important to set aside specific expectations of what it will do and trust that it will work for your highest and greatest good.
Will it work even though we're not in the same room?
Because everything in the Universe is connected and made up of energy, Reiki is able to be sent and received from anywhere — you don’t even have to be in the same room! Through the use of sacred symbols, I’ll tune in to your energy and channel Reiki on your behalf. Your Higher Self will draw in the energy and decide where and how it is used.
What do I need to do during a session?
There’s nothing you must do during a Reiki session. While I recommend finding a quiet, comfortable place where you can relax during your session time, it is not mandatory.
What can I expect during a Reiki session?
During the session you may feel some sensations - heat, coolness, tingling, etc. or you may not feel anything at all. There is no wrong way to experience a session. Your Higher Self is in charge and will do what is needed most for you at the time. Typically, people tend to feel relaxed and may even fall asleep. If you're disturbed during the session, don't worry! The Reiki still comes. Afterwards, be sure to drink plenty of water to help your body clear any toxins that may have been released during your session.
What is a "healing reaction"?
It is possible that after Reiki treatments you may experience a "healing crisis". This is usually a brief period in which a client who was feeling better may feel tired or as if they're "coming down with something". Typically, this can last anywhere from a few hours to a couple days, but the client's improvement stabilizes afterwards. This occurs due to the body cleansing itself of any toxins that have been released. To help counter a healing crisis, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water after your session.
