I really enjoy the Mirror and Medicine spread created by Danielle at Oak Moon Tarot, so I’d like to start offering a monthly reading for the Collective to check in each month.
This month we received the Five of Wands as our Mirror card. It actually came flying out of the deck while I was shuffling. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw it because it describes exactly how I’ve felt the past few days, and I’m hoping you find some resonance with it too.
Five of Wands is a period of contraction where you might be feeling frustrated, stuck, or scattered. You’ve been working towards something and it seems like different obstacles keep popping up along the path. Overall, things might seem a bit messy, but this mess gives us a beautiful gift. It allows us to release the crap that’s been holding us hostage.
Creation is a messy event. We try to put a few things together, it doesn’t fit properly, so we take it apart and try something else. There’s no growth without a bit of discomfort. During this time we may see our doubts and fears on full display, but these feelings rise to our consciousness so that we can work through and release them.
The Medicine that’s offered this month is the Nine of Swords. To me, it feels like we’re being challenged to stop chaining ourselves to our worries and fears, to stop letting them govern our lives. How do we do this? By walking up to them and facing them head on.
Maybe you’re worried something isn’t going to work out because of the blocks you’re hitting. Instead of letting it stop you in your tracks, perhaps take the time to try something different. Look at what didn’t work before. Why didn’t it work? What did you learn from it? What else could you try?
This month we’re being urged to stop letting our fear run the show when we face a bump in the road. Too often we give up on something because it’s difficult and uncomfortable. That’s the easy way out. Remember, these doubts and fears are coming up so that we have the opportunity to work through them and release them. That’s how we evolve and grow. We have to be willing to push past our comfort zone in order to create change.
If you feel like you’re lacking the confidence to tackle these fears, it might be helpful to meditate with some Citrine on your solar plexus chakra. Imagine a giant ball of golden light radiating from that space. If you feel called to do so, spend some time free writing on the questions “What worries/fears are holding me hostage right now? How can I overcome them?”
