New Year Intentions, Not Resolutions

Happy new year, you beautiful Lightworkers!

It's that time of year when everyone is knee deep in their new year resolutions. We're cutting out carbs or sweets, hitting the gym five times a week and doing everything we can to try and feel better about ourselves. Then, come February all of this will die out and most of these resolutions will fail or stop being prevalent for us.

I'd like to invite you to try something new this year. Instead of setting resolutions, try setting intentions based on how you want to feel in the year ahead. For example, instead of "I'm going to lose 25 pounds," say something like, "I am fit and feel confident about my body."

Phrase your intention in the present tense as if it has already happened and include emotional words to help give it that extra oomph. By phrasing it this way and adding in emotion, you're essentially tricking your brain into thinking it has already happened. This helps to raise your vibration to match whatever it is (especially if you're expressing gratitude for it), and the Universe can't help but to bring it into your life.

Spend a few minutes every day reading your intentions. I keep a list by my bed and on my phone, so that I can read them as soon as I get up and throughout the day. I recommend choosing one a day to spend a few minutes visualizing and really feeling the emotion associated with it. With the example above, you could visualize people complimenting you on your appearance or feeling really awesome in your swimming suit at the beach.

When you say "I'm going to lose 25 pounds," that's all you focus on. Then you tear yourself apart if you don't meet your goal by the time you decided you would. When you say, "I am fit and feel confident about my body," you have the opportunity to manifest this multiple ways.

Perhaps you start with some mirror talk telling yourself how beautiful you are. Maybe you take up a daily exercise regimen or start being more mindful about what you're putting into your body. You end up creating multiple beneficial practices that aid in manifesting your intention instead of just focusing on losing that 25 pounds.
