I recently picked up Tosha Silver's newest book It's Not Your Money: How to Live Full from Divine Abundance, and I came across a quote while reading it that I haven't been able to get out of my mind:
“There is a vitality, a life force... that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.”
- Martha Graham
I don't know about you, but I felt so relaxed after reading this. Our only job is to keep our channel open so that we can be Divinely lead. When we're open we're allowing God/Spirit/The Universe/Life Force etc. to take charge and work through us instead of trying to do everything ourselves. We're the faucet for the water to flow through.
And, when we allow ourselves to be that faucet we don't have to worry about what Joe Schmoe is doing over there or whether or not we're good enough. We move into a space of trust, a space of knowing that life is happening for us rather than to us. We can trust that all is unfolding for our Highest and Best good.
This week I encourage you to reflect on where and how you might be stifling that channel. Are you constantly judging and comparing yourself to others? What changes need to take a place to reopen your channel? Perhaps a daily meditation practice or simply offering your worries to The Universe and trusting that you are being led. How can you live from a place of outrageous openness?
