Welcome to May, you fearless spirit!
This month I’ve used a Theme, Focus, Growth spread and pulled three cards to get an idea of the energy we can expect to be working through in the month ahead.
Theme - Where are you overburdening yourself?
The Ten of Wands indicates we need to spend time reflecting on where we’re taking on more than we can handle. Do you look at your to-do list and feel a sense of overwhelm wondering how you’re going to get ahead? Or are there people and/or situations that leave you feeling drained? Our card for this month indicates that it would be beneficial to identify those tasks, people and situations that feel like they’re depleting you of your energy, so that we can use our focus for the month to help remedy these situations.
Focus - Time to set some boundaries!
The Queen of Swords shows up reversed here, which feels like your boundaries may have been a bit lax lately. Remember that you are the only person responsible for your own energy. The Queen indicates that once you’ve identified where your energy is being drained, it’s important to plug those holes by setting boundaries for yourself and others.
Many people feel bad for saying no to someone because they’re afraid of letting them down or upsetting them. A no deserves just as much respect as a yes. As you move through the month, the Queen encourages you to be aware of how you’re feeling and how much you’re taking on at any given moment, and she empowers you to say no when necessary.
Also, a no doesn’t mean never, it can mean not right now. You have the ability to negotiate. Let’s say someone proposes an awesome project they want to collaborate on with you. Setting a boundary could look as simple as saying, “Listen, I’d love to work on this with you, but I’ve got a lot on my plate right now and wouldn’t be able to give it the full attention it deserves. Could we start next month once I have more time to devote to this?” BAM! Simple and easy to honor how you’re feeling and not overburden yourself with more.
Growth - Let’s soar!
To me, the imagery of this card suggests that the swords are being cast off so that the butterfly can finally open its wings and soar. The Eight of Swords reversed shows us that by setting those boundaries we’re able to liberate ourselves from the obstacles that seem to be keeping us stuck in one place. We’re able to think and communicate clearer in way that allows us to expand into our fullest potential.
There’s plenty of space available this month if you’d like to book a personal reading. Together we can see what energies are currently showing up in your life and how you can harness them for your Highest and Best Good.
