The underlying energy or theme for August is release.
This idea of release comes from the waning moon found in the Pagan Otherworlds Tarot deck. The waning moon follows the full moon, and it urges us to reflect on the things that are no longer aligned with our goals and aspirations. What are you still clinging to regardless of whether or not it's serving you? What habits, people, and/or past experiences need to be released so that you can move into the month ahead feeling grounded and clear?
If there’s something you’re struggling to release, I’d suggest learning about the Hawaiian practice of Ho’oponopono. It’s a wonderful forgiveness practice that feels like a deep spiritual cleansing.
The Two of Pentacles echoes this idea of release in August. In order to fearlessly move through the month, the Two of Pentacles asks us to examine everything we’ve been juggling lately. This card indicates there’s probably a bit of unaligned “busy work” taking place – stuff that doesn’t feel aligned that you’re only doing because you feel like you haveto do it.
You might believe that this busy work is how you’ll find success, but it’s likely distracting you from the tasks that could move you closer to your goals. What are the various things you’ve been balancing, and which of those things seem to time-suckers or distractions instead of helping you manifest your goals? it’s time to put those things to rest so that you can focus on those things that move you closer to your dreams.
In order to infuse this energy of release with Love, the Knight of Swords suggests slowing the fuck down. Remember that life is a marathon, not a sprint. When you’re constantly racing towards something you can become pretty reckless. If you were running a marathon you’d need to listen to your body so you knew when to stop for water, food, etc. You don’t have to keep going at all costs, and if you did, you’d probably injure yourself.
You can afford opportunities to pause. Once you’ve paused, you’re able to get a clearer picture of what’s working and what’s not working. From there, you can reflect and plan to create the best path forward. It also gives you the opportunity to engage in generous self-care so that you don’t burn yourself out.
This month it’s okay to take your time. Be sure to give yourself plenty of rest. And, if you feel like you need to go ahead and stop to take a break. Afterward, you’ll feel much clearer and better prepared for the tasks at hand.

Write down anything that’s either no longer in alignment for you and/or preventing you from manifesting your intentions. Reflect on what these things have taught you and thank them for their lessons. Then, burn the piece of paper (in a fireproof container) and release them to the Universe.
Create three reminders on your phone at different times throughout the day to pause and check-in with how you’re feeling. If you feel out of alignment, ask yourself what you need at that moment.
In my experience, we hold onto things out of fear. Spend five minutes meditating each day using the mantra “Breathing in Love” on the inhale and “Releasing fear” on the exhale.
