Today we're wrapping up our Manifestation Monday series with a discussion on meditation and gratitude. Before we get into it, I'd love to take a moment to recap what we've discussed these past weeks.

We've defined what it is we'd like to attract into our lives and we learned how to protect our mindset from outside sources that could have a negative effect on our manifesting abilities. Next, we brainstormed ways to overcome any potential obstacles we might encounter so that we're ready to kick ass if they show up. We learned how to use visualization to manifest our desires and then talked about the importance of taking action in the physical world to bring them to fruition.

Now let's talk about the power of developing a meditation and gratitude practice. If we had been building a car over the past weeks, I feel like meditation and gratitude are the gas which would make it run.

Many people have the misconception that when you meditate you have to think of absolutely nothing or else you fail at meditation. I'm of the belief that meditation is about fully experiencing the present moment. Your thoughts will most likely keep running through your head when you first start out, but the point is to notice it and return to the breath.

When you're in the moment, focusing on your breath, you're like a satellite sending a signal out to the Universe saying, "I'm here and ready to receive!"

You don't need to meditate for thirty minutes each day to experience the benefits. You can start with five minutes every day. Also, you don't need to be seated to meditate. You can experience a moving meditation while walking outside in nature or even while washing the dishes. Just keep your focus on the breath, and if your mind starts to wonder, gently return your attention to the breath. No need to berate yourself.

The other major impetus for manifestation is gratitude. Not only does it raise our vibe, but the Universe sees what we're grateful for and begins to send us more of the same. Once again, what we focus on expands. If you'd like to attract more clients into your life, start by being grateful for the ones you already have!

Start your day by immediately expressing gratitude for three things right after you wake up. Don't feel like you've got to name some big, ornate thing. "I'm so grateful for this soft pillow" or "I'm grateful for my air conditioning," is totally fine.

Then, as you go through your day, find more things to be grateful for. Make it a game! There's been many times I've asked to speak to manager at a store to express my gratitude for the service I received or for a particular employee that helped me. It lights everyone up.

Before you go to bed, list out three things from your day that you are grateful for. If you want to get really fancy, you can take turns sharing these things with a spouse, friend or family member. It's a win-win situation for everyone, and it will help bring more amazing experiences into your life.

Manifestation Monday | Taking Action

So, we defined what it is we want, we protected our mindsets, came up with plans to overcome potential obstacles, and we've been visualizing our intentions as if they've already manifested. Now what?

It's time to take action!

There's a common misconception about the Law of Attraction where people think all they have to do is to keep imagining the new car they want and it will come to them. However, they're missing a very crucial step. They need to be taking action daily to manifest it. 

Sometimes I'll see this with my Tarot clients -- just because the cards indicate something is favorable doesn't mean that it will absolutely come to pass. For instance, if the cards indicated it is likely that your house will be sold and you thought, "Well, that's it! The cards said it, so I don't have to do anything," you would be very mistaken and you probably wouldn't end up selling your house. You're a co-creator of your life with the Universe, and you need to be putting in the work.

So, what do I mean by taking daily action? Well, one thing that will start to happen if you follow the previous steps we've gone over is that you'll start to get little intuitive hits that direct you to do something. Perhaps you've been wanting a new job. You've been visualizing this awesome new job, and one day you get this inkling to go out of the office for lunch. Here you bump into an old friend whom you haven't spoken to in a long time, and he mentions a new position with his company that he thinks you'd be perfect for. Hurrah!

These synchronicities will start coming into your life because you've been aligning your vibration with that which you desire by feeling the emotions that are associated with it through visualization. But they definitely won't happen if you're not out there doing your part. If you were wanting that new job, but not showing up to work, you never would have gotten that gut feeling to go elsewhere for lunch.

You've got to be out there showing up and doing the work so that the Universe can send you the assistance you need. Don't think you can just sit around visualizing all day and have your dreams show up at your front doorstep. It's a slim chance they will.

Instead, think of it like a totally awesome treasure hunt. Your intuition will provide you with the map, but you've got to get out there and follow it.

Manifestation Monday | Defining Obstacles and Visualization

Welcome back, y'all! Last week's manifestation tip was a little short, so I'm combining it with this week's post.

Today we're focusing on defining potential obstacles we may encounter while working to manifest our intentions and practicing visualization. You might be saying, "Garrett, why would I want to focus on obstacles? I don't want to bring them into my life." Well, today we're going to define these obstacles so that we can come up with ways to work through them. That way if an obstacle does pop up, you're not afraid of it because you have already come up with a plan to overcome it.

First, think of one of the intentions you have set for yourself. Now, think of all the possible obstacles that you could run up against while working to manifest that intention. Once you've got a solid list of obstacles, go through and brainstorm ways to make it through those obstacles.

For instance, if one of your obstacles is "money" start brainstorming ways to create more money. You could take a second job, ask for a raise, have a silent auction, start a gofundme, create a side business -- the list goes on and on.

Ultimately, this can help you when you run into one of those obstacles because it won't seem so big and scary. Plus, you'll already have a ton of ways to get around it. We tend to turn back or stop working towards our goals when things start getting difficult, but with this activity you create the tools to make it through any obstacle you come up against.

Also, we’re going discussing the benefits of using visualization to help you manifest your intentions. By now you know what you want, you’re blocking out all the noise that’s not serving you, and you know how to barrel through potential obstacles that might pop up along your journey.

With visualization, you’re forming an image in your mind’s eye of the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and feelings you’ll experience once your intention has manifested. It’s important when you’re visualizing these things that you look at it from the perspective of your intention having already manifested. You already have whatever it is you desire.

For example, if you’re manifesting money, don’t waste time just imagining yourself holding money. Use your visualization time to experience what you’d do with that money. See yourself driving that new car, relaxing at the beach, traveling all over the world. Picture whatever it is that’s going to elicit an emotional response within you because your emotions are one of the most powerful tools you have to aid in your manifestations.

I recommend practicing visualization for about 5 minutes each day. It’s a great thing to do right after meditation. Then, once you’re finished, turn it all over to the Universe and trust that it’s on its way to you.

First, I'd love to hear how this past week went for you! Were you able to spend some time creating your list of intentions? Did you read them each day? Personally, I fell a little behind because I've been feeling exhausted and somewhat overwhelmed this week. However, I've realized that means it's time to let some things go. I'm making a commitment to honor myself and practice more self-love to help regain my energy.

So, this week is about protecting your mindset, which is super important in today's society. Many people spend a lot of time scrolling through Facebook, reading news alerts popping up on their phone, etc. Also, when you start to make big changes in your life, you'll most likely have a few naysayers who tell you "you're crazy" or "you can't do that." Basically, it's just a bunch of noise that we don't need.

It's important to keep all that gunk out of our heads because we subconsciously accept anything that we don't consciously reject. For example, let's say you'd like to start a new business. However, the news is telling you that nine out of ten startups fail and the economy is tanking. You're friends start telling you you're crazy to be starting a business because the economy is so bad. The more you start to see and hear things like that, the more you'll start to accept it as your truth unless you consciously decide that it's not your story. Remember, you are a powerful co-creator with a benevolent universe!

You may be saying, "Okay, how do I protect myself from all the noise?" Below, I've given you a few ideas:

Shield of Light

This may look familiar to those of you who read my recent blog post on keeping your energy cleared and protected. Before you leave the house in the morning, imagine a giant bubble of light descending from the sky and completely surrounding you. Set the intention that this energy shield only allows in positive, high vibrating energy and that any low vibrating energy dissolves upon contact with your shield. I recommend checking in throughout the day to see if you need to "reapply" your shield.

Create a Morning Ritual 

What do you typically do right after you wake up? If it involves getting on social media or checking the news, it's time to change it up. Use the first hour (or two, or three hours) after you wake up staying offline and doing something that benefits you. Meditate, draw, stretch, journal, sit and enjoy a good cup of coffee or tea. The more you start to invest in a morning routine full of self-love, the more you'll notice a huge shift in your day. The point is to load up your mind with things that help you grow rather than a bunch of junk. Also, please refrain from getting on social media or checking the news right before bed.

Limit Your Daily News Exposure

Yes, there's a lot going on in the world right now and it helps to be informed. But you can remain informed without constantly checking the news. Turn off all the breaking news alerts to your phone. To me, they just feel like extreme cortisol shots. Instead, consciously decide if/when you're going to check and find a news source that isn't too extreme. I love BBC News because they are very straight forward without all superfluous language to make everything seem ten times scarier.

Use Affirmations

Spend a day or two listening to the thoughts that are running through your head on repeat because they're responsible for creating your reality. What are they saying? Are these thoughts building you up or slamming you down? Write them down. If you have any that aren't conducive to the type of life you want to create it's time to create an affirmation to help plant the seed of a new way of thinking. If you're thinking "It's really hard to make any money," rewrite it with the reality you'd like to create in mind. It could become "I make making money fun and easy." Then, any time you hear that old, fear-based thought running through your mind you can take a moment to pause and start to replace it by saying your new affirmation out loud until you really start to feel it in your bones. I'll warn you, your ego may start to tell you you're stupid and it won't work, but I ask that you stick with it for a while so you can start seeing and feeling the difference.

Observe Your Friends

Listen to how your current group of friends talk next time you're with them. Are they complaining about life, themselves, or engaging in other fear-based behaviors? Or are they building each other up, discussing their aspirations or simply vibrating at a high frequency? Take note of whether this group of people helps to raise your vibration. If not, you can try shifting the frequency of the group by changing the topic of discussion. It might be beneficial for you to spend a little less time with them if they're vibrating really low. Instead, make connections with some high vibrating kindred spirits. Surround yourself with these types of people and they'll help to raise your own vibration, which will make it easier for you to manifest.

The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to consciously reject anything that doesn't reflect your own truth. As an example, I've been doing a lot of work around removing my own money blocks that were caused by guilt and shame. When I would hear something like "We don't have enough money," I would pause and think to myself "That does not serve me. I am choosing to believe there is an abundance of money in the world." While I'm still working on removing my blocks, money has started showing up for me all over the place.

Overall, remember what you don't consciously reject, you subconsciously accept. Close off your mind to all the noise and get started discovering and creating your truth. This week, I challenge you to practice a couple of the techniques listed above to help protect your mindset. I'd love to hear how it's going for you throughout the week.
