This month I’m excited to debut The Intrepid Heart spread! For the month of July I’ve pulled three cards - the underlying energy, fearless and heart.
The Underlying Energy represents the energy that is at play for the month ahead – think of it as somewhat of a theme for the month. Then, the Fearless card represents the fearless way forward. It offers a way for you to work with the energy of the month that helps you to fearlessly evolve and grow. Remember, being fearless isn’t about going through life with no fear. It’s about recognizing your fears and being willing to work through them. The Heart card offers you a way to do this work in a loving manner. It can show you where love can be of service in a particular situation, or even offer up recommended self-care practices that support the work you’re doing.
Underlying Energy - Nine of Wands, Reversed
For this month, the Nine of Wands comes forward to nudge you to lay down your defenses. You don’t always have to be on guard waiting for the other shoe to drop. Things can and will go well, if you let them. Become aware of the energy you’re projecting out into the world right now. Are you afraid that things are going to come crashing down around you because they’ve been going so well lately?
Affirm that you have what it takes to experience success. And, if something isn’t working out try not to dwell in that energy. Instead, you can use the affirmation, “If not this, then something better.” This simple affirmation can help to lift you up out of any funky energy that might show up and keep you moving towards your inevitable success.
Fearless - Two of Swords
I like to think of this position in the spread as asking, “How can I fearlessly work with the underlying energy?” The Two of Swords has some powerful medicine for us this month.
The woman in the card is blindfolded with her arms crossed over her heart chakra. She’s not paying attention to what everyone else is saying or doing. Instead, she’s tuning into that quiet voice within to aid her in her decision making.
The Two of Swords reminds you that you are in command of your life and the decisions you make. It’s a reminder to go within and listen to your inner voice instead of allowing the world around you to make your decisions for you.
Today we’re constantly bombarded with messages from our peers, advertisements, the news, etc. Many of these are most likely fear based, which is probably why we’re always ready for the other shoe to drop. Then, if something goes wrong we immediately tell ourselves we were right and turn around to head for the hills.
As you move through this month, try making decisions that resonate and feel good for you. Take time to tune in and listen to your own inner voice instead of asking everyone else what you should do. Ultimately, you know what’s best for you.
Heart - The Emperor
I tend to see the Emperor as an energy of structure and order, and here it feels like his recommendation for self-care during this month deals with creating rituals.
Think about the role ritual plays in your life. How do you start your morning? Are you hitting snooze a couple of times before leaping out of bed, trying to grab a bite to eat and frantically rushing out the door? Or, are you waking up and starting each morning with a ritual designed to set you up for the day?
One of the most powerful rituals you can create is a morning ritual. Think about what you need in the morning that would help you move through the day ahead. You could spend some time meditating, praying, journaling, visualizing your intention for the day, etc. Every morning, I wake up, light a candle, pray and then meditate for about ten minutes. It’s not big or showy, but it helps me feel grounded in the day ahead.
You can create a ritual for just about anything – starting a new project, ending a project, going to work, going to bed, etc. Maybe before a meeting you say a short prayer in your car asking that the discussion in the meeting be for the Highest and Best good. Every time I sit down to work at my desk I light a candle. I set the intention that the work I do be of service to someone. Your rituals don’t have to be ornate. Any ritual that gives you a moment to pause and reconnect with yourself will be successful.
Mantra for the Month: “If not this, then something better.”
Create a daily ritual that helps you to feel centered and ready for the task at hand. If you don’t already have a morning ritual, I’d recommend starting there.
Journal about any intuitive hits you receive throughout the month. Write down what you felt and any messages that come through. Then, you can go back later and reflect on how these things showed up throughout the month.
